While CAR T cell therapies have achieved up to 90% complete response rates in hematologic malignancies, translating this success to solid tumors remains a major challenge due to limited antigen targets and the inefficiencies of traditional screening methods like phage display, which can take months and often yield non-functional CARs.

In this webinar, we introduce a rapid, mammalian display workflow that combines MaxCyte’s Flow Electroporation® technology with Bruker’s Beacon® optofluidic platform for live single-cell functional analysis. This approach enables the creation of high-diversity CAR T cell libraries and the functional screening of solid tumor–specific CARs, dramatically shortening discovery timelines.

The result: de novo identification and validation of functional CAR constructs in as little as six weeks, with scalable automation and high-dimensional data capture, making it accessible for both translational and industrial research environments.

Eren Boga is a research scientist at Immatics Biotechnologies GmbH, where he works as a TCR engineer. He received his PhD from German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) Heidelberg under the supervision of Dr. Dirk Jäger. In his doctoral work, he pioneered development of a high-throughout platform for accelerated identification of functional CAR constructs at single-cell level. His current work focuses on immunoreceptor engineering and functional screening technologies to advance next-generation immunotherapies

Alicia Roig-Merino, PhD

Regional Manager, Field Application Scientist at MaxCyte, Inc.

Alicia Roig-Merino earned her biology degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2013 and gained international research experience in cancer biology, plant physiology, and developmental biology. She completed her PhD at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in 2018, where she developed an episomal DNA platform for stem cell engineering. As a postdoc, she applied this work to gene therapy for Fanconi anemia, focusing on viral and non-viral genetic engineering methods, particularly electroporation. In 2020, she joined MaxCyte as a Field Application Scientist and ExPERT in technical applications.

Thomas Adejumo, MSc

As a senior field application scientist at Bruker Cellular Analysis, Thomas Adejumo leverages 15+ years of experience and expertise in flow cytometry, microscopy, mass cytometry and digital cell biology to provide high-quality customer service, training and troubleshooting for research and pharmaceutical scientists. He has an MSc in molecular medicine from University College London, multiple certifications in flow cytometry, and several publications and awards in the field of single-cell proteomics and molecular biology.
